Happy Fall

It’s almost Pumpkin Spice Latte season! I haven’t had my one and only PSL of the season, yet, but as soon as those crisp autumn days arrive, I will definitely be heading to Starbucks.

I hope everyone is settling into their new fall schedules and have begun to make the scheduling adjustments necessary for success in piano this season.

If you are struggling with getting back into the practice groove, here are a couple of tips that might give you a boost to get on track whether you are taking an exam this session, or learning your recital piece

  1. Try to set a time each day when you know you will be home, and can focus on practice for 20-60 minutes

  2. Turn off your phone/device notifications so you can practice uninterrupted

  3. Plan your practice time to include warm up, technical requirements, and at least one section of repertoire or etude

  4. Vary the repertoire you practice each day, and concentrate on mastering small sections. Review sections you practiced the previous days(s).

Try this out for a week and measure your success. It just may be Pumpkin Spice Latte worthy!
